When it comes to entrepreneurship, women have many odds stacked against them. But the instinct to face insurmountable challenges has made women entrepreneurs who they are & we have not one but two such women entrepreneurs who are striving brilliantly for a beautiful cause that sadly nobody in India is talking about – Women Coaches in Sports. And here’s what the SPORTS BRUNCH WITH A PURPOSE has to tell you about its conceptualizers.

The Sunday Sports Brunch is a humble vision of Dr.Tejal Kanwar of the
Kleinetics fame & Mitali Jakatdar who runs her own parenting portal, SuperMoMMitali.

Dr.Tejal Kanwar & Mitali Jakatdar

Dr.Tejal is a Mumbai-based gynecologist who after years of being a gynecological surgeon, now majorly dedicates her consultation towards young girls dealing with menstrual issues & PCOS. You get to learn more about her & how Kleinetics was conceived here.

Dr.Tejal & Mitali have taken to a philanthropic cause, that’s heavily backed by the management of the Lighthouse Cafe. Mr.Anvay Kolwankar & Mr.Karan Dharod, who manage the cafe, believe that, “Every woman in this world deserves an equal chance to make it big in life.” Hence they have aimed at dedicating their December Sunday Brunch (an intellectual property started by the cafe for people to donate with the aim of having fun) towards 10 women who come from an underprivileged background & have decided to become Sports Coaches.

These sports women are backed by Apnalaya, which aims to empower the disadvantaged barriered by social, political & economic constraints. Apnalaya is a non-profit organization that, since more than 3 decades, has been helping the underprivileged people from Mumbai slums by armoring them with opportunities for a better quality of life.

Dr Tejal maintains that “Kleinetics sees raw & untapped talent in these underprivileged women who weren’t even supported by their families. They definitely have superlative athletic skills that can potentially catapult them into making it big in sports & hence Kleinetics has decided to train them & polish their abilities to eventually transform them into coaches. This is purely a Train the trainer programme & we wish to empower them by professionally equipping them to train young minds & souls later on.”

The Brunch is on in Worli, Mumbai at the Lighthouse Cafe for the whole of December & houses a special Kids’ Menu for families to enjoy their delicacies without any guilt.

The revenue collected from the Sports Brunch would go to the welfare arsenal of Kleinetics & thus be dedicated for the training programme of these women.

So, if you want to be a part of this wonderful cause & have lots of fun & quality time with your family/friends for your December Sundays, come, dine & enjoy at the Lighthouse Cafe. You can book your tickets here too.

The ratio of women coaches to men coaches in India may be really small. But take a look at these wonder-women who have coached some of our legends & have won national accolades too. Sunita Sharma (Women’s Cricket coach, Arjuna awardee), Sunil Dabas (Women’s Kabaddi coach, Padmashri & Dronacharya awardee), Purnima Mahato (Archery coach & Dronacharya awardee), Hansa Sharma (weightlifting coach & Dronacharya awardee) & many more.

We also can do our bit in helping these 10 women to get a chance to achieve their dreams if their caliber supports them too. Can’t we?
